Having stood the test of time these products have proven themselves over and over again.
Recreational and professional anglers in the US have continued to use them on many species with great success for the past plus fifty years.
They are finally being offered to the Australian and New Zealand anglers.
Kind Words From Our User’s
Having used plastics for years I was introduced to the Bill Lewis range of hard bodied lures and I think it is fair to say that I am now addicted to their rattle lures.
The Rat-L-Trap range never ceases to amaze me with the number of different species which are attracted to them, from bream, whiting, snapper, tarwhine, tailor, salmon and flathead on the smaller to medium sized traps in the saltwater to bass, estuary perch, trout and yellow belly in the fresh.
Beside the traps the Echo, a Squarebill Crankbait has outperformed other hardbody lures in both the fresh and salt, this is especially the case when the water is discoloured and the vibration and tone of the rattles come into play.
Despite their size bream and smaller species regularly fall victim to this amazing lure.

The Bill Lewis Traps may not have been the first lipless, vibrating crankbait on the market, it is certainly one of the best known! Originally developed in the late 1960’s – there are few lures today that can claim they are still selling millions of their lures around the world almost 60 years later!
The Bill Lewis Rattle L-Trap is a “must have” lure for any angler chasing just about anything from Bream, Flathead, Barra & Threadfin Salmon in the salt to Bass & Yellow Belly in the fresh!
If you haven’t tried them – you should!
And while you’re at it; check out their unique New surface lure the “StutterStep” which is sure to be great on everything from Bass, Toga, Barra & Cod as well.
Nothing Beats A Low Tone Rattle
I take my lure fishing pretty seriously. My lure box is well stocked and there’s no room for anything I don’t have 100% confidence in. I test (and discard) a lot of lures, but there’s always a healthy collection of Bill Lewis lures tucked away.
As a scientist, the sound my lures emit has always been of greater importance to me, so rattle traps in particular hold a special place. The 1/8 oz (3.5gms)Tiny Traps are perfect for finessing bream, bass, sooty grunter and jungle perch.
And if you’re looking for a first class barra and jack lure, give the Knock-N-Trap in ½ oz (14.2gms) or ¾ oz (21.3gms) size a run. Nothing beats a low tone rattle and strong vibration for getting some attention.
And that’s just a couple of personal favourites from a massive range of options…….
